I got the 6th Edition just because of the quality of the maps alone. They look good to look at to this fellow map maker. Credit to Mary Macaree and Gray Mouse Graphics!

I have a 3rd edition with an entirely different cover than the one you pictured above. Yours is a later printing.
Noteworthy is also the excursions to Keremeos in the 3rd and 4th editions.
I can’t resist picking up a first edition from a thrift store when I see one. Picked up my third one today, and that’s how I ended up finding this blog when I did a search for 105 hikes.
I love old hiking guides!

My favourite hike is Watersprite lake. 🙂

Not as drastic as differences in broadcast television, but still visible. Great article, Taryn.

Would love to win this fabulous book so I can inspire myself and get the most of BC jaw-dropping wilderness!

Cheers from Quebec! 🙂

That above mentioned Elaho Canyon hike may be still possible, if you dare to cross the Cessna Creek cable bridge with a harness (did it in May 2013, years after the trail was closed because of the collapsed bridge, MEC was still selling the Elaho Meager trail map in 2013/2014), better bring another rope for belay as backup, you can bushwhack (2 kph) as far as the raging Marlow Creek, in some places there are trail markers, but if I rember it right the early section had flagging which is probably gone now, better bring a GPS to find back. Canyon Camp is a nice site for a small tent, I suspended my food bag into the canyon.

The roads to the trail head (near Douglas Fir loop / Cedar women look out) were open in 2017 according to information I found on the web (they were closed in 2015 because of the fire which killed the Elaho Giant).
