It looks like there is an inconsistency in BC Parks info, which is where my info comes from. Their day pass info site says Golden Ears passes are all day passes this year, but their booking site still has timed passes. I’ll update the post to have the correct info.

Thanks for the info, but I’m a little confused about this one
“Passes are valid for arrival at any time of day. (In previous years you had to book an AM or PM pass, but in 2025 they just have general all-day passes.)”
Because I went to the website to book a day pass, but there is only AM and PM passes, no day passes available
Which information is accurate?
Thank you

This year the info on BC Parks website is a bit less explicit about the times of day passes. You can read it here: https://bcparks.ca/reservations/day-use-passes/ . You can see that for the locations that have timed passes, passes are required stating at 7am. For locations with all day passes, there are no times listed, but in my experience, and from what I’ve heard from talking to BC Parks, passes are checked between 7 am and 4pm at those locations as well.

Hi Taryn, do you have a link to this piece on the website? I’ve looked for hours and can’t find anything time-specific. Thanks!

In previous years, passes have not been required after 4 pm and the staff who check passes get off work at 4 pm. I can’t find any confirmation online of the current hours for this year, but if you arrive after 4 pm, you have a pretty good chance of not needing a pass. The passes are designed to regulate use during the busiest part of the day.

I know it seems a little crazy but we are getting desperate and are happy to do a late day to make it happen! thanks again 🙂

I’m not sure where you are finding your info. Parks Canada manages the National Parks (like Banff, Pacific Rim, etc.). Provincial Parks like Garibaldi, Joffre, and Golden Ears are managed by BC Parks. If you look at the advisories section at the top of the BC Parks page for Garibaldi, Joffre, and Golden Ears Parks, it gives details of the dates that each park requires passes as well as a link to the pass booking page. You’re right that the summer pass season hasn’t started yet though.
