It looks great, not bulky a lot (as many 60l do). My Deuter AirContact (50+10) is narrower but taller so it looks bigger, I think. It also weighs 1kg more! But with heavier loads it’s is amazing! I just got now Gregory maven 45l and it’s around 1,3kg… I want to have it for shorter trips and summer hiking.

btw – amazing photos! 🙂
happy hiking!

I recently reached out to Boreas and they confirmed that their website is wrong! The small and medium sizes of the women’s Lost Coast 60 are 55L. The large is 60L. Apparently there is 6L of volume in the lid and they forgot to include that on some of their specs which is why it says 49L.

Hello!
I was wondering the same – did you ever hear from Boreas about the large size discrepancy between 49L and 60L many other sites advertise (and it’s called the “60”)?

My pack definitely has some scuffs and holes in the mesh at the bottom of the backpanel, but it has seen a couple years of fairly heavy use. Did you wear a belt with the pack? Maybe that’s what’s rubbing? I wouldn’t worry too much about it since all gear starts to look beat up pretty fast – as long as it still works the way it is supposed to you should be fine! Glad you like the pack too.

It fits really well and I loved the simplicity. There is just one problem. After just one weekend (and nothing crazy, really) I have noticed the mesh that covers tha back is sort of stretching at the bottom, where it is sown to the backpack fabric. A few of the holes in the mesh got bigger. Are you having the same problem??? It is frustrating since it fits so well!

Let me know what you think of the Lost Coast after you have a chance to try it out.

And when you are choosing between sizes, be sure to read this article – scroll down to the bottom for specific torso fitting advice https://www.mec.ca/en/explore/choose-and-fit-a-backpack/ Even if you didn’t have a good experience with staff in the store at MEC, perhaps you can still get good advice from MEC through their website. I actually used to work as a pack fitter and I agree with all the tips in this article.
The only other tip I would add is to try on the packs in front of a full length mirror. Carefully check the way the shoulder straps fit – that there are no large gaps between the strap and your shoulder or upper back (that means the pack is too big) or that the padded part of the strap ends above or at your armpit (that means its too small) – it should end under your armpit.

A friend of mine has the light grey (almost white) Lost Coast. She also commented that she was worried about it getting dirty but so far hers really doesn’t look too stained and she’s had it for a year. Mine has some big dirt scuffs on the orange part though!

I am just going to buy both online at MEC (there are out of it) and then try them out and return one. Unfortunately, I don’t find MEC staff are very experienced these days. Maybe they will read this comment and they will be provided some training 😉 I love the fact that they changed the colour. It used to be almost white. As if we female hikers never get dirty!

Hi Nuria. I find the best way to size a pack is to try it on with weight in the bag. If you can get to a store and try on a few sizes you will get a much better fit than ordering online. Staff in a good outdoor store should be able to help you fit it as well. I’m 5’6″ and wear a medium in this pack but keep in mind that your torso length is more important than your height. And don’t stress – buying a backpack does take a bit of fitting but it’s nowhere near as terrible as buying boots!

I am 5′ 4” so I am wondering whether I should get the small or the medium…. Buying backpacks and boots stress me out big time!

That’s really weird. Boreas’ original stats for this bag are what is listed on MEC’s website but it looks but newer colours they have updated their specs. I’ll see what I can find out from Boreas about this. Stay tuned.
