We are camping ones every year with my husband, but so far never through the winter season. It looks like something we have to try one day!

The hot water warms runs out too. Be warned!

A few tips from me. Dig the area in your vestibule down lower than the tent base. It makes getting boots on/off easier as it creates a seat for you, but also creates a cold air sink and keeps warm air in the tent (hot air rises remember!). Also, cold boots in the morning is a pet peeve for me. If you have liners take them out of the boots and sleep with them in your sleeping bag. If you don’t have liners, grab a stuff sack (flip it inside out to keep the inside clean) and put your boots in that before putting them in your sleeping bag for the night. Keep a change of clothes and any batteries with you too.

The best thing about these tips, winter gear starts to get really heavy, the three above don’t add any weight to your existing pack, but sure makes life compfy.

Oh, one more. For white fuel, I use a formula for how much fuel to carry that has never failed for me. 1/8 of a liter per person per day. Double that in winter. It assumes you are melting snow for water and doing so for breakfast and dinner. Melt ice instead of snow when you can for some extra fuel savings.

Some of the most beautiful mornings I’ve had were in the winter, it’s well worth trying it out. Hope it helps!
